(Wally Fowler)
This song was written by Wally Fowler who recorded it in 1946 and copyrighted in 1947 but this version of the song wasn’t issued until 2013.
The Browns recorded a version of it in 1955 when it was registered as their own, but because of it not being their own the credits for the composer on the records can sometimes be seen as Jim Edward Brown and Maxine Brown and/or Wally Fowler.
The first recording of the song was by Wally Fowler and His Georgia Clodhoppers in June 1946 and The Browns version of the song, listed as Jim Edward and Maxine Brown with Bonnie was released in 1955. The Browns version became a Top 10 hit when it reached No. 7 on the US Country chart.
The Louvin Brothers recorded their version in 1958 and Jim Ed Brown recorded it as a solo artist in 1969 and with Helen Cornelius in 1977. Over the years several other artists have recorded their own version with these including the Osborne Brothers, Chris Hillman, The Kendalls and The Stanley Brothers.
