St. Louis Children’s Choirs

This is a choral programme based in the community of St. Louis, Missouri, which was established in 1978 by Diance Finlay.  It comprises upwards of 500 children, no older than 12th grade, from around 200 schools, who sing in seven ensembles according to their ability.  With these choirs the children gain a huge musical experience and they give performances on a national and international level, often with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra.

Venues they have appeared include Carnegie Hall, twice at the White House and the Oregon Bach Festival and many in their international tours of Australia, Austria, Czech Republic, Russia, Scotland and Wales.

Aside from their concerts they have often been heard in the recording studio on albums that include Spring Concerts from 2004 to 2006, 25th Anniversary Celebration Concert, Holiday Highlights as well as Faure: Requiem with the Ensemble Musique Oblique Carmina Burana with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra and Holiday Brass with Susan Slaughter.   Their Artistic Director, Barbara Berner, joined them in 1996 and currently leads the choirs and oversees the choir programs. In 2005 they were led by Kathleen Pottinger in their performance in The Worlds Largest Concert in the company of the Missouri State Symphony Orchestra and hosted by the Oak Ridge Boys in Branson, Missouri, in 2005, which was nationally broadcast on PBS in March 2006.
