Pre-Historics, The

This was a doo-wop duo from The Bronx, New York made up of the singers Arthur Crier and Carl Spencer with Crier soon forming The Halos in 1961.

They released the single “Alley Oop Cha Cha Cha” by Dallas Frazier backed by their own co-written “Oh Blues” in 1960 with the backing vocals  provided by Skip Battin and  Gary S. Paxton, aka “Skip & Flip”.  Gary would be the lead singer of another version of “Alley Oop” which topped the US Billboard Hot 100 and R&B charts also in 1960 for the Hollywood Argyles.  “Oh Blues” by The Pre-Historics was also released as the flip side of “Rockin’ Moondog” by Chuckie Chandler and the Chandeliers in 1960.

The duo split up very shortly after their release of “Alley Oop Cha Cha Cha” as they had been booked into a show at a club in Yonkers, New York, but after they had argued about the wardrobe they were supposed to be dressed in, they moved on to other things.  This would be their last and only show as The Pre-Historics.
