Sheng Lihong (1926-?)

He was a composer born in Huzhou, Zhejiang, China who studied at the Chonqding National Conservatory of Music from 1943.

He was a participant in establishing the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, around the time of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, where he became a composition and orchestra teacher and remained for many years.

He became a member of the composition group that worked with the Central Philharmonic Society of Beijing in 1969 and became one of the arrangers of Yellow River Cantata by Xian Xinghai.  The arrangement became the Yellow River Piano Concerto which was premiered in 1970 and has since gained on to receive national and international acclaim.

He went on to compose larger scale works for orchestra, including his Ocean Symphony and continued writing music as a composer for many years.
