Jungst, Hugo (26th February 1853-3rd March 1923)

He was a composer, arranger and choir leader born Hugo Richard Jungst in Dresden, Germany.

He studied with the composer and cellist Julius Rietz and compositions include the song “Spinn, Spinn” and the arrangements of “While By The Sheep” also known as “How Great Our Joy”.

He established the Dresden Men’s choirs in 1876 and remained with them until 1904.  He also performed on a national and international level and was the recipient of several awards during his career.

He passed away in March 1923 when he was 70 years old.
