He was a producer and songwriter born in Chelsea, Massachusetts, who worked with Columbia records and United Artists and was the founder of Jack Gold records Inc.
In the early 1960s began producing artists such as Bobby Goldsboro and Lou Christie for United Artists and would become their Executive Producer and Director of Singles Activities. He later moved to produce and become Head of A&R with Columbia records where he produced numerous albums for many artists from the 1960s up to the 2000s including Percy Faith, Ray Conniff, Barbra Streisand, Tony Bennett, Gladys Knight and Frankie Avalon.
He worked with Johnny Mathis on many of his successful singles and albums and even after he began to suffer with Parkinson Disease, Johnny Mathis insisted on working with him.
He died in Tujunga, California , aged 71.
