He was a violinist and composer born in Naples, Italy, to a family where his brother Luigi was a violinist and teacher.
He studied at the Conservatory San Pietro a Majella in Naples and later went to Madrid to study with Pablo de Sarasate. He followed that by travelling to London where he studied with August Wilhelmj.
He settled in Nice, France where he worked as a teacher and spent the rest of his time composing.
His compositions include the opera Pia de’ Tolomei, the ballet Hersilia, a string quartet, a quintet, “Chanson Napolitaine”, “Serenade” and “Romance”, two violin concertos, various concert pieces and his possibly best known work Canzonetta Op. 6 and he arranged “Sonata in G Minor” by Benedetto Marcelli.
He died in Nice, France aged just 43.
