He is a songwriter and occasional singer who often worked in collaboration with Morgan “Thunderclap” Jones, writing for Cliff Richard, The Beatles and many other 1960s chart acts from England.
He and Jones became a songwriting partnership in the late 1950s, where he was the lyricist, and he recorded their first song “A Hoot and a Holler” in 1958 with Don Lang & His Frantic Five recording it the next year. Their work as a successful songwriting duo got them noticed and they appeared on Spike Milligan on Treasure Island WC2 in 1961.
After having many successful records they went their own ways in 1965 and at some point he emigrated to Canada. In the 1980s he became the manager of the Canadian musician Richard Stepp.
