Wright, Simon (1951-Present)

He is an orchestral conductor and organist born in Sunderland, England who studied at the Chetham School and while there he was with the Cathedral Choir.  He further studied organ, double bass, piano, conducting and accompaniment at the Royal Manchester College of Music on an Organ Scholarship and he became a Fellow of the Royal College of Organists when he was 18.

As an organist he has performed with Sir John Barbirolli, the Halle Choir and Ampleforth Abbey.

As a conductor he has led orchestras that include the Philharmonia Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic, Northern Sinfonia, the Britten Singers, the Leeds Festival Chorus and the City of York Guildhall Orchestra.  He has toured worldwide and made numerous successful recordings with John Wallace, the Wallace collection and The Philharmonia.
