Wolff, Katharina

She is a violinist born in Germany who was raised in the United States.  She is married to the conductor David Stern and they have two daughters.

She studied for her B.A. at Yale and her M.M. at the New England Conservatory of Music.   She later studied in Switzerland and the baroque violin with Richard Goebels of Musica Antiqua Koln, who she became a member of and toured and recorded with them for many years.

She has performed as a soloist and several international music festivals and has also performed with ensemble that include the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, Les Arts Florrisants and L’Orchestre Revolutionnaire et Romantique.  She became the concertmaster for  Opera Fuoco based in Paris, France.

She has been heard on many recordings which nclude Ino, Dresden Concerti, Concerti “Per L’Orchesstra Di Dresda”, Italian Violin Concertos and Lamentations – Passionsmusik by Musica Antiqua Koln, Haendel – Jephtha by Opera Fuoco and Skip Sempe by Capriccio Stravagante.

In the field of musical education she has been on the baroque faculty of the Heifetz Institute.
