Winding, Jai

He is a keyboardist, songwriter, musical director, arranger and producer, also sometimes listed as “Jay Winding”, who has worked in the recording industry since the early 1970s.  His father was the trombonist Kai Winding.

As a songwriter his song credits include “New York Minute”, “My Thanksgiving”, “Whatcha Gonna Tell Your Man” and several that have been written for the TV show The Simpsons.

His work as a musical director saw him working in that capacity for Madonna during her Truth or Dare tour and other international tours in the early 1990s.

During the course of his career that has spanned more than three decades, he has worked with countless artists such as Alessi Brothers, Tina Arena, Jackson Browne, Cheap Trick, Alice Cooper, Arlo Guthrie, Don Henley, Indigo Girls, Michael Johnson, Howard Jones, Julian Lennon, Little River Band, Kenny Loggins, Steve Lukather, Mary MacGregor, The Manhattan Transfer, Marilyn Martin, David Mason, Maria Muldaur, Michael Martin Murphey, Rick Nelson, Juice Newton, Stevie Nicks, Ted Nugent, Tony Orlando, Donny Osmond, Ozark Mountain Daredevils, The Pointer Sisters, Bonnie Raitt, Timothy B. Schmit, Dusty Springfield, Bernie Taupin, Tanya Tucker, Jody Watley, Bobby Winkelman, Bill Wyman and Warren Zevon to name just a very few.
