Wilson, Joemy

She is a hammered dulcimer player born in New Haven, Connecticut, who studied the piano and violin as a child and once she was attending high school she took voice lessons.  She took her further education at Barnard College, New York City, and whilst there she began to concentrate on the Appalachian dulcimer, which led to her also taking up the hammered dulcimer in 1979.

Becoming acclaimed in the field of dulcimer playing she has worked with artists such as Sylvia Woods, Miamon Miller and Scott Fraser and has received acclaim for her performance of works by the Irish harpist, Turlogh O’Carolan.

Having made many recordings she appears on Beatles on Hammered Dulcimer, Carolan’s Cup: Music of Turlogh O’ Carolan Vol. 1, Celtic Treasures: Music of Ireland Vol. IV and Dulcimer Lullabies and Gifts: Vols. 1-3, amongst others.
