Wilson, Catherine

She is a pianist, artistic director and composer born in Toronto, Canada, who studied at the University of Michigan on a scholarship.

Making her name as an acclaimed soloist she has accompanied many orchestras and ensembles including the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, a successful US debut at Carnegie Hall in 2005 with the New York Pops and is the founder, the artistic director and pianist with Ensemble Vivant.

She has performed for many heads of state including Queen Elizabeth II, had Leroy Anderson’s family request her to make repeat performances of his Concerto in C for Piano and Orchestra, has had many works written for her by contemporary composers and has been the subject of five videos of her performances in Europe and the United States.

She has written compositions for Ensemble Vivant and CBC radio, and in the world of musical education she is on the faculty of York University and has been Adjunct Assistant Professor at Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan.
