Willis, Andra (27th August 1943-Present)

She is a singer born in Danville, Virginia who started out singing with her sisters, Sheryl and Toneda where they were professionally known as The Willis Sisters.  They performed with local bands before being the guest stars on television shows such as Lawrence Welk’s The Plymouth Show and The Tonight Show.

After the sisters began to follow their own careers, she became a solo artist and was often heard singing on The Breakfast Club radio show.  In 1967 she became a member of The Lawrence Welk Show cast where she would sing as a soloist and sometimes in duets with Dick Dale, remaining there for around 2 years before leaving in 1969.

Once she had left The Lawrence Welk Show she concentrated on songwriting and worked as a session singer on recordings and soundtracks.  She also was the vocalist who sang for the actress Olivia Hussey in the 1973 film Lost Horizon.

As a songwriter she wrote the song “No One Like You” which was recorded by John Denver.

Recordings she has performed on include her own “Knock, Knock Who’s There“, “I Adore You” and “Til I Can’t Take It Anymore”  along with  The Complete A&M Recordings by Joan Baez, Old Home Town and The Legacy 1961-2017 by Glen Campbell, Live at the Greek Theatre by Vikki Carr, Compartments by Jose Feliciano, Two Sides of the Moon by Keith Moon and “A Little Bit Older”, “Grapevine” and “My Preposition Baby” by The Willis Sisters.

She was first married to Roy Kohn and after their divorce she married the late musician Larry Muhoberac, who had been a keyboardist for Elvis Presley.  They moved to Australia in the 1980s where they continued to work in music.
