One of the original members of The Blue Notes and one of the members of The Original Blue Notes. In 1954, he was singing with Roosevelt Brodie, Jesse Gillis, Jr., Harold Melvin, and Franklin Peaker.
It was not long afterwards that he recorded a solo effort, “Don’t Tease Me”, backed with “Why Fool Yourself”.
Bernard broke away from the group in the 1960s and started up The Original Blue Notes, with whom he recorded “Focused on You” and “Needless to Say”. They also backed up Eddie Holman on his 1967 record, “Why Do Fools Fall in Love”/”Never Let Me Go”.
In 1969, Bernard issued a promotional single, “Ever Again”, on Bell Records.
