Wickham, Edward

He is a baritone singer, conductor and teacher born in England who sang as a chorister with the Choir of St. George’s Chapel, Windsor, and studied Modern History at Christ Church, Oxford and was awarded his doctorate in Early Renaissance Music at King’s College, London.   At the same time he was studying, he was shaping his career as a singer and conductor.

Since then he has been heard with ensembles such as Oxford Camerata and is the director and founder of The Clerks’ Group in 1992 who have recorded at least 20 CDs and won a Gramophone Award for Early Music.  As a choral conductor he has led the Orlando Chamber Choir of London, the Renaissance Singers of London and since 2003 has been the music director for St. Catherine’s Choir in many concerts in their own country and on a tour of Japan.

In the field of musical education he is a much sought after choral coach for groups in many different countries and is the Director of Music and Academic Studies at St. Catherine’s College, Cambridge.  His work in outreach projects in Cambridge has resulted in a children’s girls choir being established in 2008 and gaining the recognition of being the only choir of its type in Britain.
