He is a French hornist and conductor born in Ootmarsum, The Netherlands. He took his musical studies at the Conservatories of Enschede and Amsterdam before venturing in his professional career in music.
He became a member of the Netherlands Radio Symphony Orchestra and soon began following his interest in conducting. He became the conductor for the Holland Wind Players and has now led them for several years.
In 1998 he was a conductor at the Summerborn Operafestival where he led the orchestra for “L’occasion fa il ladro” by Rossini. His performance was so admired that he received an invitation to return to the festival in 1999.
In 2000 he conducted the ballet production of Cuddly Animals by Marijn Simons at Rotterdam’s Dance Academy and he also conducted the theatre productions of Stravinsky’s L’Histoire du Soldat during the 2000-1 season. Also in 2001 and 2002 he was a guest professor at Wisconsin University in the United States where he also conducted a recording and concert of music from The Good Soldier Schweik by Robert Kurk. In 2003 he was the artistic director and conductor of the EUROpera Festival in Ootmarsum.
Having a strong interest in chamber music he also works with Camerata Amsterdam and with them has appeared on the recordings by Caplet, Glazunov and Myslevicek.
A few of the recordings he has worked on as a musician and/or conductor include The Classical Saxophone and Hebrew Melodies by Camerata Amsterdam, Marji Simons by the Holland Wind Players and Mondriaan Quartet, Made in Paris by the Holland Wind Players, Franz Krommer: Partitas Op.45 by Joseph Triebensee Ensemble and Old Wine in New Bottles by the Wisconsin Wind Orchestra.
