Watts, Dr. Valerie

She is a flautist, piccolo player and teacher born in New York who studied at the Northwestern University School of Music and the Eastman School of Music.  She was a fellow of the Bach Aria Institute and the Stony Brook Festival and in 1993 she became a finalist at the Festivales Internacionales de Flautistas Enterprises.

She has appeared as a soloist and chamber musician and has performed with orchestras and ensembles that include the Oklahoma Woodwind Quintet, the New Hampshire Festival Orchestra, Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, Bach Camerata, Eastman-Dryden Orchestra and the Oklahoma City Philharmonic Orchestra where she holds the position of Principal Flute.

Appearing on several recordings she can be heard on A Christmas Delight with the Oklahoma Woodwind Quartet amongst others.

She is a founder of Oklahoma Flute Society and was the Chairman of the 1999 Oklahoma Flute Society Flute Solo and Ensemble Festival.

As a teacher she has been Assistant Professor of Flute at the University of Oklahoma and also regularly gives master classes in other states as well as private tuition.
