Wall, Jeremy

Arranger, composer, keyboardist and producer who co-formed the fusion-jazz outfit, Spyro Gyra, in the mid-‘70s, with school chum, Jay Beckenstein.

He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the California Institute of the Arts in the field of Music Composition a Master of Music degree at Purchase College in the discipline of Studio Composition.

Jeremy wrote a goodly amount of Spyro Gyra’s output, including the Grammy-nominated “Shakedown”.  He appears on most of their albums, although in the 1990s, his participation with the group was limited to arranging, composing, and producing.

In 1991, he released a solo album, Cool Running, and followed this up with 1992’s Stepping into a New World.  Other albums on which he appears include Bar Jazz Vol. 7Expansion Soul Sauce Sampler Vol. 4The Instrumental History of Jazz, and The Soul Jazz Legacy – The Master Collection Volume 2.

Jeremy’s jazz legacy is not limited to the recording studio or the concert stage, however.  In the world of musical education, he has taught as Purchase College, Ramapo College, and the State University of New York in Oneonta.  He also directs SUNY Oneonta’s Funk Band, which plays college dates and other local venues, and has collaborated with a local, upstart rock group that bill themselves as Red Goodbye.

In 2004, Jeremy received special billing as a solo performer at Shenandoah’s Bach Festival.
