Concertmaster and violinist from Schonebeck in the former East Germany who attended the Franz Liszt Music Academy, the Schloss Belevedere Music School, and the Universitat der Kunste, in Berlin.
He joined the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Sachsen-Anhalt at thirteen years of age. When he was sixteen, he helped co-found the West-Eastern-Divan-Orchestra.
He was appointed concertmaster of the European Union Youth Orchestra and the Philharmonic Orchestra of Alternburg-Gera and joint concertmaster of the Philharmonia Orchestra, all before reaching his twenty-fifth birthday.
His trophy case is full of accolades such as the EUYO Chairman’s Award, the International Henry Marteau Violin Competition, the International Louis Spohr Violin Competition, Jugend Musiziert, and the Magdeburg Stipendium awards.
On 5th December 2010, he celebrated Bela Bartok’s birthday with pianist Min-Jung Kym at Wigmore Hall in London, England. The program comprised Bartok’s “Violin Sonata”, Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Violin Sonata No. 9 in A Op. 47” (“Kreutzer”) and Claude Debussy’s “Violin Sonata in G minor”.
