Vinson, W. Lee

Percussionist who attended Boston University and the Eastman School of Music and studied with John Beck and Tim Genis.

Groups with whom he has worked include the Boston Pops, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Houston Symphony, the Kansas City Symphony, the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, and the United States Navy Band.

In the field of music education, he has taught at Boston University and the Interlochen Arts Camp.  He has appeared as a guest artist and/or clinician at the Boston Conservatory, the Eastman School of Music, Florida State University, Indiana University, Michigan State University, and the University of Massachusetts.

His writings have appeared in The MassChap 2010 Xylophone CollectionNot So Modern Drummer MagazineThe PAS MassChap 2008 Snare Drum Collection, and the UNCP Percussion Studio Technique Workbook.

PAS MassChap is short for the Percussive Arts Society Massachusetts Chapter, of which he has served as vice president.

His own snare drum collection comprises about fifty instruments, some of them vintage and antique.
