Violinist from Kherson, Russia, who was raised in Odessa and studied with Olga Goldboum and Leonid Lambersky. After graduating from the Odessa State Conservatory, he joined the ranks of the Moscow Philharmonic and toured Asia, Europe and the United States.
He stayed with them for fourteen years before emigrating to the U.S. In April 1975, he auditioned for the Boston Symphony Orchestra and won a spot in their violin section. Two years later, he was named assistant principal second violin. He has also worked with the Boston Pops, which has opened some recording opportunities.
His discography includes: Aaron Copland/Arthur Foote: Chamber Music with Flute; America; American Visions; The Celtic Album; The Latin Album; My Favorite Things: A Richard Rodgers Celebration; and, A Splash of Pops.
He also worked as a translator on the Quink Vocal Ensemble’s album, Folk Songs of the World, and co-authored the 1979 book, Anonymous IV.
In the field of music education, he has served on the faculties of Boston University, the Gnesin Institute of Music, and the New England Conservatory.
