He was a bass guitarist and singer-songwriter born in Berkeley, California. In 1966 he became a member of the Steve Miller Blues Band that would later become the Steve Miller Band, and appeared in the recording and concert with Chuck Berry at the Filimore and Monterey.
Throughout the next 20 years or so he would be a pivotal part of the Steve Miller Band recordings alongside Steve Miller and Gary Mallaber. He was also a member of the band Terry & The Pirates, which he joined in 1972, and with them he appeared with artists such as the Pointer Sisters, Albert King, Tommy Tutone and Eddie Money.
He died in Lebanon, Oregon from lung cancer and early onset Alzheimer’s disease. He was 66 years old.
