Tunnicliffe, Richard

He is a cellist born in Hull, England who studied cello at the Royal College of Music on a scholarship and took up teaching himself to play the Baroque cello after having playing the viol under the tutelage of Francis Baines.

He worked as a freelance musician after finishing his education and performed with orchestras and ensembles that include The Academy of Ancient Music, the English Baroque Soloists, The English Concert, The Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and The Taverner Players.

He became a member of the Reformed Fitzwilliam String Quartet and in 1992 was an original member of Convivium (previously The Locatelli Trio).  With them he has given many broadcasts and performances worldwide.

As a teacher he has given lessons in Baroque cello at the Royal Academy of Music in London.  He is married to the flautist Liza Beznosuik.
