Tsui, Olivia

Violinist who joined the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra in 1991 and the L.A. Opera Orchestra in 1993. She has served the Glendale Symphony Orchestra and Los Angeles Virtuosi in the capacities of conductor and music director. Groups with whom she has worked as concertmaster include the Bel Canto Opera Festival, the Beverly Hills Chamber Orchestra, and the Rio Hondo Symphony.

On 17^th May 2000, she and Andrew Picken were the soloists when the Glendale Symphony Orchestra interpreted “Symphonia Concertante for Violin and Viola, K. 364”. It was sandwiched between “Leonore Overture No. 3, Op. 72” by Ludwig van Beethoven and “Symphony No. 3 in F major, Op. 90” by Johannes Brahms.

Olivia made her debut as conductor of the Glendale Symphony Orchestra on 7^th October 2006. Her program included “Cuatro Estaciones en Buenos Aires” by Astor Piazzolla, complete with tango dancers, The Four Seasons by Antonio Vivaldi, and “Spanish Dance, K. 570” by Dmitri Shostakovich.

She has also been extremely busy in the recording and movie studios, recording with big names in pop and appearing on several soundtracks.

Recordings on which she appears include: Blood on the Dance Floor: History in the Mix and Ghosts by Michael Jackson; Greatest Songs of the Fifties and Scores: Songs from Copacabana and Harmony by Barry Manilow; The House I Live In by Tony Danza; Mended by Mark Anthony; The Movie Album: As Time Goes By by Neil Diamond; The Music of My Life by Neil Sedaka; and, Steve Lawrence Sings Sinatra.

She has also performed on the soundtracks of Batman: The Brave & the Bold, Blonde, Brothel, The Chronicles of Riddick, Collateral Damage, The Day After Tomorrow, Flags of Our Fathers, Letters from Iwo Jima, Ratatouille, Rush Hour 2, Spider-Man 2: The Game, Star Trek, Teen Titans: Trouble in Tokyo, Wall-E, and White Oleander.
