Trajko, Arthur

Cellist from Korca, Albania, who started playing at the age of seven and placed first in the National Cello Competition at the age of fourteen. He studied at the Conservatory of Tirana, the Conservatory of Utrecht, and the Sweelinck Conservatory, graduating with honours in 1998.

Groups with whom he has worked include Conjunto Iberico, the Holland Symfonia, the Netherlands Radio Symphony Orchestra, Trio Arco, and Trio Trajko.

Conjunto Iberico entertained at the 1999 Festival International des musiques d’aujourd’jui Strasbourg with a program that comprised Agustin Charles’ “Divertimento for eight celli”, Ramon Lazkano’s “Su-Itzalak”, Tomas Marco’s “Miro”, and Luis de Pablo’s “Ritornello”.

In 2002, Arthur appeared on flamenco guitarist Jacco Muller’s CD, Silueta. Other recordings on which he can be heard include Frank & Marion van Essen’s Immanuel: 15 Nederlandstalige Kerstliederen and the two-CD set, Vox Jubilans: Hoogtenpunten uit vier jaar Doelen Kerstconcerten.

In February 2010, the Holland Symfonia offered up a trio of concerts of Johannes Brahms’ “Akademische Festouverture” and “Symfonie nr. 1 in c” bookending Frederic Chopin’s “Concert voor piano en orkest, nr. 1 in e”, with Nino Gvetadze at the keys.

Trio Arco interpreted Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Strijktrio c-moll op. 9 nr. 3”, Franz Joseph Haydn’s “Divertimento No. 8 in B-major” and Franz Schubert’s “Strijktrio in B-major D471” at Podium Azijnfabriek in Hertogenbosch on 4^th November 2010.
