He is a trumpeter born in Jamaica who was a member of Georgie Flame and the Blue Flames and had his own outfit, The Eddie Thornton Trio, who released the single “Baby, Be My Girl”.
He became a well-known session player and appeared playing the trumpet on The Beatles’ “Got To Get You Into My Life” on the 1966 Revolver album. He appeared on the Small Faces second album and their song “Eddie’s Dreaming” is about him.
In 1971 he became part of the Roy Young Band and backed many acclaimed artists including Chuck Berry on his No. 1 song “My Ding a Ling”.
In later decades he appeared with the groups Aswad, The Cimarons and the Gipsy Kings and the artists David Thomas, Alton Ellis and Rico Rodriguez.
