Thompson, Clare

Violinist who attended the Freiburg Hochschule fur Musik and the Royal Academy of Music, where she was a prize-winning pupil of Carmel Kaine.

She spent eight years with the English Chamber Orchestra, under the baton of Daniel Barenboim, Christoph Eschenbach, and Pinchas Zukerman.

Other groups with whom she has worked include Capricorn, the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, the London Mozart Players, the London Symphony Orchestra, the Northern Sinfonia, the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House, Prometheus, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and Serenata.

She has served as First Violin #3 with the Philharmonia Orchestra, leader and soloist with the Thames Chamber Orchestra, and has her own chamber group, simply titled Chamber Academy.

In the field of music education, she has taught for about two decades, delivering master classes in the Caribbean and Sri Lanka, and working as Professor of Violin at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London, England.

She has appeared on a wide variety of recordings such as Ballads – The Love Song Collection by Boyzone, Cake by The Trash Can Sinatras, In Gabriel’s Garden by the English Chamber Orchestra and Wynton Marsalis, The Singles by Feeder, Statues by Moloko, Unledded by Jimmy Page and Robert Plant, and Vivaldi Concerti by the English Chamber Orchestra and Pinchas Zukerman.
