Tees, Stephen

He is a violist born into a musical family where his father was a community musician and chorister and his mother played the piano.

He first studied the violin but was pushed to learn the viola in order to be able to enter the National Youth Orchestra.  After his studies were completed he became a professional musician and played with the Amphion String Quartet and the St. Martin-in-the-Fields String Octet before gaining a position with the City of London Sinfonia.

As a soloist he has toured with John Williams and done studio work for television and film as well as making recordings of Hedda Gabler for the BBC and giving an international broadcast of Trauermusik by Paul Hindemith.

As a teacher he gives tutelage at the Trinity College of Music and he also gives his time to go to Trafalgar Square and give workshops to the homeless.
