Longtime drummer for Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band and half of the duo Teegarden & Van Winkle. Dave Teegarden and Skip “Van Winkle” Knape were already developing a cult following when Bob Seger asked them to lend support on an album of covers entitled Smokin’ O.P.’s in 1972.
A few years later, when Charlie Allen Martin was maimed in a grisly automobile accident, Teegarden was asked to be his replacement. He appears on the bulk of the Seger repertoire, from 1976’s Live Bullet to 1983’s Like a Rock, which means you have probably heard him drumming on those Chevy truck ads.
He went to own and operate Natura Digital Recording Studios in Natura, Oklahoma.
In 2017 he was inducted into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame.
