Taylor, Christopher

He is a trombonist born in Edmonton, Alberta who studied with Malcolm Forsyth, who was a previous trombonist with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra and graduated from the University of Alberta before taking further studies in Los Angeles and Chicago.

Before he was a university student he was a member of the Banff Festival Orchestra, the Canadian Chamber Orchestra, the Cosmopolitan Band and Edmonton Youth Orchestra.

In 1974 he was a co-founder of the Malcolm Forsyth Trombone Ensemble and he was also a founder of the Festivo Brass Quintet.  He became a member of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra as bass trombone in 1975 and is now retired.

He has performed in countless concerts and shows with the ESO and was an international artist in the ITV Concert series.  His work as a chamber musician and soloist as a freelance musician has seen him performing in both North America and Europe.

Recordings he has performed on include  Return of the Whirlwind and A Celebration of Youth by the Ukrainian Shumka Dancers along with the self-titled albums The Malcolm Forsyth Trombone Ensemble and The Richard Eaton Singers.

In the field of musical education he joined the faculty of the University of Alberta as Instructor of Bass Trombone and Brass Ensemble in 1981.
