Tate, Frances

She is a flautist, piccolo player and teacher who took her further studies in music at the University of Michigan and the Peabody Conservatory.

Entering into competition, she achieved second place at the National Flute Association’s Piccolo Artist Competition in 2002.

Since becoming a professional musician she has performed with orchestras and ensembles that include Angelic Instruments, the Annapolis Symphony, the Baltimore Symphony, the Delaware Symphony, the Knoxvill Symphony, the Pennsylvania Ballet, the Philly Pops and the Richmond Symphony.  Alongside that, she has held the post of piccolo player with the Lancaster Symphony, been the co-principal flute with the Endless Mountains Music Festival, been the second flute with the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia and the Principal Flute with the Opera Company of New Jersey.

Recordings she has appeared on include Verdi: Requiem by the Ama Deus Ensemble.

In the field of musical education she has held positions on the faculties of The Music Centre at Exton, Pennsylvania, the Conservatory of Musical Arts at Haddonfield, New Jersey, Roland Park Country School and Garrison Forest School.
