Tang, Rong-Yan

She is a violinist born in Shanghai, China, who studied at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music and moved to the USA to study at Louisiana State University and Cleveland Institute of Music on a full scholarship.

After graduating she performed with several orchestras including as a soloist in the US, France, Hong Kong and China and became the Associate Concertmaster of the Fort Wayne Philharmonic. She has also won first prize at the Yellow Springs National Chamber Music competition.

She joined the Chicago Symphony Orchestra as a first violin in 2003 and during her career with the CSO she has also been First violin with the Fry Street Quartet, the Oakley Quartet and performed in the CSO’s chamber music series.

As a recitalist she has played with local orchestras and at the Art Institute of Chicago ad WFMT-FM radio broadcasts.
