Tachezi, Manfred (30th January 1959-11th September 1982)

He was an oboist born in Vienna, Austria who came from a musical family where his father was the harpsichordist and composer Herbert Tachezi, his uncle was the cellist and conductor Wilfried Tachezi and his brothers are the cellist Herwig and the violinist Christian Tachezi.

He studied at the Hochschule fur Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna and after graduation became Principal Oboe with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra.

Recordings he performed on include Christmas with Placido Domingo by Placido Domingo and the Vienna Symphony Orchestra.

Outside of performing as an orchestral musician he was also a very keen mountaineer and spent much time climbing.

He had suffered with diabetes from a young age and while climbing in 1982 had an accident at the Grossglockner which took his life.  He was 23 years old.
