Cellist from Klausenburg, Romania, who started taking lessons from his father at six years of age. He attended the Musikgymnasium, Musikhochschule in Bucharest and Wiener Musikhochschule in Vienna. His teachers included Andre Navarre and Aurel Niculesco.
Groups with whom he has worked include the Arcadia-Trio, Ensemble Kaleidoscop, the Franz Schubert Quartett, the Haydn Sinfonietta Wien, the Johann Strauss Ensemble, the Nagano Philharmonic Orchestra, the Seraphin Quartett and the Vienna Symphony Orchestra.
On 12th October 2005, the Johann Strauss Ensemble interpreted Chick Corea’s “Trio”, Gaetano Donizetti’s “Trio in F major”, Max Reger’s “Serenade in G major, Op. 141a” and Alexander von Zemlinsky’s “Trio, Op. 3”.
Attila and violist Werner Frank, violinist Helmuth Lackinger and flautist Alexandra Uhlig visited Brunegg on 19th August 2007 when they offered up Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Serenade, Op. 25”, Leonhard von Call’s “Trio in G major, Op. 142” and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s “Duo, K. 423” and “Quartet in C major, K. 281”.
On 14th September 2008, Ensemble Kaleidoscop participated in the Internationales Musikfest des Brahms-Museums Murzzuschlag. Their program included “Erinnerung-Monument-Nachtstuck” by Richard Dunser, lyric pieces and “Sonata in E minor, Op. 7” by Edvard Grieg, “Serenata in vano, FS 68” by Carl Nielsen and “Two Rhapsodies, Op. 79” by Johannes Brahms.
Attila and violinists Oliver Breuer and Renate Turon and violist Johannes Flieder appeared at the Blauen Salon on 3rd May 2009 when they performed Franz Joseph Haydn’s “String Quartet No. 3 in C major, Op 76” (“Kaiserquartett”) and Mozart’s “String Quartet No. 18 in A major” (“Paukenquartett”).
On 26th September 2010, the Eight Cellists of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra accompanied a ballet choreographed by Nikolaus Adler with the “Bachianas Brasileiras Nos. 1 & 5” of Heitor Villa-Lobos.
Attila was the guest soloist of the Nagano Philharmonic Orchestra in a performance of Haydn’s “Cello Concerto” on 24th September 2011.
On 30th September 2012, the Seraphin Quartett took the stage in Mittlerer Saal at Brucknerhaus where they performed Fritz Kreisler’s “String Quartet in A minor”, Giuseppe Verdi’s “String Quartet in E minor and Hugo Wolf’s “Italian Serenade”.
Recordings on which Attila appears include: Johannes Brahms: Sonate Pentru Piano Si Violoncel with Viniciu Moroianu; Korngold: String Quartet No. 1/Reznicek: String Quartet No. 1 with the Franz Schubert Quartett; and, Tchaikovsky: Nutcracker & Swan Lake Suites with the Eight Cellists of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra.
