Stoddard, Robert

He is a singer and energy consultant who earned his B.A. with a double major in economics and music at Amherst College, where he studied music theory and composition, followed by further studies for his M.A. and M.Phil in economics at Yale University.

Performing from the time he was young, he appeared in a production of Noyes Fludde by Benjamin Britten as a boy and in between college and university he went to New York and sang and recorded with several groups, including six albums with  the Robert DeCormier Singers.

After returning to study at Yale he was a performer with Yale Camerata and after he had started his professional career he was a regular singer with the St. John’s (Episcopal) Church choir and a backup singer for the Boston Camerata, where he also served on the board of directors.

He moved to Portland, Maine and sings there with the Camerata, Singers and Masterworks Chorus of the Choral Arts Society.

In 2012 he was the co-editor of the new and old shape-note tune publication The Shenandoah Harmony and in 2016 he served as chairman of the Maine Sacred Harp convention.

Recordings he has performed on include Christmas Eve, The First Nowell and A Victorian Christmas by the Robert DeCormier Singers.

Outside of music he continues his professional career with the Power Marker Economics LLC in Portland, Maine.
