Stockert, Ron

He is a keyboardist, singer-songwriter and arranger who started in the music business in Decatur, Illinois in the 1960s when he and Steve Hunter were the main performers in the group The Light Brigade.

He went on to perform with the Bo Street Runners and then became a leading member of the band Rufus in 1971 around the same time they were joined by the singer Chaka Khan. From this time the group began seeing success and in 1973 they signed to the ABC record label. Their second album, Rags to Rufus, produced the Top 5 hit “Tell Me Something Good” which had been penned by Stevie Wonder and not long after he left the band at the same time as Al Ciner and Dennis Belfield.

In 1976 he became the second keyboard player for Three Dog Night as a replacement for Skip Konte and recorded on their American Pastime but this would prove short lived as the group disbanded that same year.

In 1979 he performed in The Illinois Band who he was heard with for many years.

He has worked on numerous albums by artists that include Etta James, Jackie Lomax, Brenda Russell, Candi Staton and Tina Turner among many others.
