He is a trumpeter and professor who started taking musical studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna in 1970.
In 1977, the year before he finished his studies at the University, he became a trumpeter at the Theater Baden. The following year he became First Trumpet with the NO Tonkunstler Orchetra and remained with them for two years.
Once the 1980s came around he became a member of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra in 1981 and played Baroque Trumpet with Concentus Musicus from 1983 to 1992. He is now retired.
His recordings include Internationale Orgelfest Stifft Zwettl with Ensemble Prisma and EU by Werner Pirchner.
In the field of musical education he has given numerous national and international master classes and was on the faculty of Music School Traiskirchen from 1977 to 1985 when he became a professor at the Vienna University. He has also been professor of trumpet at Salzburg’s Mozarteum University since the late 1980s/early 1990s.
