Stapleton, Robin

He is a conductor whose father was the bandleader Cyril Stapleton who studied at the Royal College of Music and was a Royal Opera scholar at the National Opera Studio.

After completing his studies he became a repetiteur at the Royal Opera before becoming the chorus director and then debuting as a conductor when he was 26 years old.

During his career he has conducted many operas for the Royal Opera that include Die Fledermaus, La Boheme, Madama Butterfly and Tosca among several others. He has also conducted nationally and internationally at Glyndebourne, Gothenburg Opera, Johannesburg Opera, Netherlands Opera, Opera North and Schottish Opera along with several other opera companies. He has also conducted orchestras such as the BBC Concert Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, Philharmonia and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

The artists he has conducted are numerous and include Tito Beltran, Jose Carreras, Placido Domingo, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, Luciano Pavarotti as just a few of many.
