She is a bassoonist and contrabassoonist from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan who later moved to Halifax with her family. While still in Saskatoon she had been bought a clarinet by her parents but after moving to Halifax she began to favour the bassoon. She studied at Halifax’s Dalhousie University before earning her Bachelor of Music in Performance at the University of Toronto. In 1983 she was a musician with the University of Toronto Symphony Orchestra.
In 1984 and 1985 she performed with the National Youth Orchestra of Canada and while still a student she was given a position at the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony. In 1989 became a sabbatical replacement for the season at the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra and after performing with the ESO for a further two sabbaticals she was given a permanent position in 1996, now holding the position of Assistant Principal Bassoon and Contrabassoon.
She has also performed as a soloist and chamber musician at venues in Western New York and Southwestern Ontario. She has performed at many concerts with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra including performing with the ESO Winds, Timpani and Violin at a series of concerts at the Art Gallery of Alberta in 2021.
Recordings she has performed on include It Is Good To Be Merry: An A Capella Christmas Celebration by the Greenwood Singers and Peter and the Wolf by the Nova Scotia Youth Orchestra.
