Snider, Jason

He is a horn player and lecturer born in Arkansas who received an honors degree from the Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music at Evanston, Illinois and took further studies at Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music in Texas.

While he was a student at Northwestern University he was a performing musician for two seasons with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. He has also performed with many other orchestras and music festival orchestras during the course of his career that include the Barossa Quintet, the Chicago Chamber Musicians, Grand Teton Music Festival, the Houston Grand Opera, the Houston Symphony, the Jerusalem International Symphony Orchestra, the National Repertory Orchestra, the Pacific Music Festival and Mexico’s Orquesta Sinfonica de la Mineria.

He has held the position of Principal Horn at the San Antonio Symphony and Second Horn at the Lyric Opera of Chicago. In 2007 he took on the position of Fourth Horn at the Boston Symphony Orchestra.

His work also appears on recordings that include Chris Botti: Live in Boston and Oscar & Tony with the Boston Pops Orchestra, The Chicago Ensemble Highlights: 2005-2008 Seasons by The Chicago Ensemble and Axes by Electrelane.

In the field of musical education he has held a position on the faculty of Boston University’s College of Fine Arts and has worked as a lecturer at the New England Conservatory since 2007.
