He is a guitarist born in Brooklyn, New York, who first became known as a member of the group Mack Truck with Jimmy and Jack Mack.
During the 1970s he toured and recorded with David Bowie after he was a replacement guitarist on the Diamond Dogs tour and then remained to appear on David Live, Young Americans, Station to Station and Changes and later in the 1980s for his Serious Moonlight tour and the album Let’s Dance. He would also work as one half of the duo Slick Diamond with Jim Diamond and recorded extensively with John Lennon and Yoko Ono.
He became a session guitarist who has worked with many other artists such as Joe Elliott, Ian Hunter, Mick Jagger, Michael Kamen, David Sanborn, Leo Sayer, Meat Loaf, Robert Smith of the Cure and Belouis Some before forming his own band. After another stint at touring he formed yet another band, Phantom, Rocker & Slick with ex members of the Stray Cats and in 1990 collaborated with the band Dirty White Boy. In the 2000s he returned to working with David Bowie on the Heathen and Reality tours and after they had finished he became a member of the bands Slinky Vagabond and The Eons.
Hit singles he has performed on “Fame”, “Golden Years” and “Let’s Dance” by David Bowie and “When I Need You” and “You Make Me Feel Like Dancing” by Leo Sayer.
Albums he has appeared on during he course of his career include his own Razor Sharp, Zig Zag, Lost and Found and The Earl Slick Band and his other guitar performances appear on Some People by Belouis Some, Double Fantasy and Wonsaponatime by John Lennon, Endless Flight by Leo Sayer, Overnight Angels and Once Bitten Twice Shy by Ian Hunter, Season of Glass, It’s Alright (I See Rainbows), Walking on Thin Ice and Onobox by Yoko Ono, Cover Girl by Phantom Rocker and Slick, Simplicity by Tim Curry, Milk and Honey by John Lennon & Yoko Ono, Joe Cocker Live and The Very Best of Mick Jagger.
In 2000 he went into business by establishing his own record label Slick Music Inc.
