She was a soprano who was involved with many of the music and art organisations in Atlanta, Georgia where she often acted as a fundraiser and board member.
In recognition for this work she was honoured in 1968 where she was given the title of Atlanta’s “Woman of the Year”.
She was involved with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra & Chorus and sang with them under the leadership of her husband Robert Shaw. She was also a member of the Robert Shaw Chamber Singers.
Appearing on several recordings, she can be heard on Paul Hindemith: When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloom’d (A Requiem For Those We Love) with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra & Chorus and Songs of Angels: Christmas Hymns & Carols by the Robert Shaw Chamber Singers.
She died in Atlanta having suffered cancer when she was 58 years old and the Caroline Shaw Memorial Listening Library Fund was set up at Trinity School in Atlanta.
