He is a violinist, violist, conductor and teacher who studied with many acclaimed violin and chamber music teachers during his years in musical education.
During his career as a professional musician he has often found himself appearing as part of several trios and quartets where he would often play the viola instead of the violin. Aside from the Delos Quartet, which he formed in 1965, the quartets and trios include the Audobon Quartet, the Berkshire Quartet, Fine Arts Quartet from 1980 to 1983, the Gabrielli Trio and the New Art Trio.
His orchestral work has often seen him performing as a soloist, violinist and/or concertmaster and the many ensembles he has been heard with in that capacity include the the Aire Born Strings, the Bear Valley Music Festival Symphony Orchestra, with whom he has performed for 10 years, Carmel Symphony Orchestra, Columbus Symphony, El Paso Symphony, Evansville Symphony, Thw Gabrieli Trio, Grand Teton Festival Orchestra, Green Bay Philharmonic, the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra, the New York Philharmonia, the Orchestra of Illinois and the Orchestra Sinfonica de Mineria.
He also toured nationally and internationally with the American Ballet Theatre, regularly performing as a soloist, and staying with ballet he toured with Mikhail Baryshnikov and the White Oak Chamber Players for three years.
No stranger to the recording studio he has performed on albums that include A Day for Rejoicing: An Anthology of Sacred Music by Frank W. Boles, Christmas with Tim Zimmerman & The King’s Brass by Tim Zimmerman & The King’s Brass and the compilation Sing to the Lord New Songs! among several others and has also appeared as a musician on the video release The Trio of Minuet.
As a teacher he has been on the faculties of Akron, Evansville, Delaware, Indiana, Virginia Tech and Wisconsin-Milwaukee Universities where he has often conducted the resident orchestras. He has been the Professor of Violin and Artist-in-Residence at the Jordan School of Music, Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana, since 1987.
