She is a violinist born in Cleveland, Ohio who earned her master’s degree at Indiana University. She had decided to become a musician after hearing Itzak Perlman performing with the Philadelphia Orchestra while attending summer camp in New York.
She became a member of the Minnesota Orchestra in 1977 and during her career with them has regularly taken part in the pre-school children’s program Friends of the Minnesota Orchestra Kinder Konzerts.
As a chamber musician she often takes part in the Sommerfest chamber music programs and has been a participant in Yale University’s chamber music program which was coached by the Tokyo String Quartet.
Recordings she has performed, outwith the Minnesota Orchestra, include Trumpet Works by Gary Bordner.
She made the decision to be the first in the orchestra to have the courage to speak out about being an “out” musician and in 1998 the orchestra changed its discriminatory benefits policy and has since taken on several LGBTQ musicians.
