Schweter, Klaus (1st June 1940-2nd June 1995)

He was a tubist and bass player born in Herrnhut, Germany, who studied at the College of Music in Gorlitz from 1954 until 1958 before joining the Music corps of the Volksmarine in Stralsund that same year.

In 1961 he became a tuba player and double bass player at the theatre in Gorlitz and moved to the Landesbuhnen Sachsen in Radebeul in 1963 where he stayed until 1967.  At the same time he took a distance learning course at the Dresden Conservatory of Music from 1964 and graduated with a diploma in double bass and tuba in 1967.

In 1979 he performed as a solo tubist for the Staatskapelle Dresden and remained there for the rest of his career.  He also performed with the Ludwig Guttler Brass Ensemble.

In the field of musical education he was a teacher at the Hochschule fur Musik at Dresden from 1980 and was appointed a professor there from 3rd June 1995, which sadly was the day after he passed away.

He died in Dresden, Germany, in 1995 when he was 55 years old.
