He is a violinist who was a member of the Central District Orchestra while at school in 1964 and later studied with teachers at the Meadowmount School, New England Conservatory Preparatory Division and Worcester, Massachusetts along with attending the Eastman School of Music.
While a student at the Eastman School of Music he performed with the Rochester Philharmonic and later became Associate Concertmaster of the Columbus Symphony Orchestra and First Violin with the Columbus String Quartet. He became a member of the violin section of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in 1979.
Recordings he has appeared on include Verse by Patricia Barber, Corigliano: Symphony No. 1, Wagner: Overtures and Preludes and Brahms: Violin Concerto/Sonata No. 3 by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, After Hours by Brian Culbertson, Christmas Celebration, Christmas in the Aire, Christmas Extraordinaire and Yellowstone: The Music of Nature by Mannheim Steamroller and Two Different Days by Rob Parton’s Jazztech Big Band.
In the field of musical education he has been a violin teacher at Capital University.
He is married to the violinist and piano tuner Amy Stocker and has a son and a daughter.
