Roy, Dennis

Double bassist who studied at Tanglewood and the New England Conservatory, from whence he graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree in 1989.

He joined the National Symphony Orchestra in 1990 and stayed with them until 1993, when he became a member of the Boston Symphony Orchestra.  Other groups with whom he has worked include the Boston Pops, the Portland Symphony Orchestra, the Rhode Island Philharmonic, and the Springfield Symphony Orchestra.

Boston Pops recordings on which he appears comprise AmericaChris Botti in Boston, and Holiday Pops.

In the field of music education, he has taught at the Boston Conservatory.  His students have included Justin McCarty and Tyler Shepherd.

He also repairs and restores basses at The BASSment in Natick, Massachusetts.
