Roniger, Roland (1965-Present)

Violist from Vienna, Austria, who attended the Realgymnasium in Perchtoldsdorf and studied with Rainer Honeck and Alfred Staar.

Groups with whom he has worked include Auris Quartett Wien, Duo Giocoso, the Jeunesse Orchestra, the Vienna Classical Players, the Vienna Philharmonic, the Vienna State Opera and Vienna Symphony Orchestra.

On 19th August 2005, Auris Quartett Wien performed Franz Joseph Haydn’s “Quartet No. 1 in C, Op. 74”, Arnold Schoenberg’s “String Quartet No. 2, Op. 10”, with soprano Gertraud Schmid, and Franz Schubert’s “Quartet” (“Rosamunde”).

They teamed up with flautist Robert Wolf on 26th March 2006 for a program that comprised Ernest Bloch’s “Suite Modale for Flute and Strings”, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s “Flute Quartet in D major, K. 285” and “String Quartet, K. 575” (“Veilchen”) and Hugo Wolf’s “Italian Serenade”.

On 18th May 2008, they collected at Parish Church Weissenbach where they interpreted “The Death and the Maiden” by Schubert and “Quartet” (“Emperor”) by F.J. Haydn.

The Vienna Symphony Orchestra and Eroica Trio appeared in Foellinger Great Hall at the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts on 8th November 2011, when they performed Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Concerto for Violin, Cello and Piano in C major, Op. 56” (“Triple Concerto”).  The concert concluded with Johannes Brahms’ “Symphony No. 2 in D major, Op. 73”.
