Robins, Robyn (1951-Present)

Robyn Robins was born in Detroit, Michigan and has had two careers, one as a keyboardist and the other as a successful audio engineer and entrepreneur in Ireland.

He was a member of The Assemblage and Frost in the early ’70s and then replaced Rick Mannassa of Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band in 1975. Albums he appeared on during that time include the highly successful Night Moves and Stranger in Town.

Seger replaced Robbins in 1980 with former Grand Funk Railroad keyboardist Craig Frost. That same year, Robbins laid down some tracks with guitarist Arlen Viecelli. In 1982, he spent a short time with the band Prism. A year later, Robbins briefly assembled his own band, performing at the Tanz Haus in Acme, Michigan. ” Briefly”, in this case, means one night only. After a pretty successful set, Robbins announced his retirement from the music industry. It turned out to be short-lived.

He has since become one of the most sought-after audio engineers in Ireland, as owner and operator of Mid-Atlantic Digital in Enniskillen. Artists he has worked with include The Bumblebees, Celtic Woman, Dave Dwyer, Indian, Clive John, Kill City Defectors, Donal Lunny, Van Morrison, Moving Cloud, Connie O’Connell, Mairtin O’Connor, Sinead O’Connor, Reeltime, Claire Roche, The Saw Doctors, The Shots, and U2. In this capacity, he has produced 2000+ albums and accumulated forty-plus gold and platinum records.
